The educational system reflects this state of relative affluence. Excellent public schools and private schools exist in the town. Killingworth Connecticut (CT) Homes - ParksKillingworth was first settled and named in 1667, and the land was purchased from the Mohegan Indians two years later. The Killingworth Land Conservation Trust is a private, non- profit service organization that works effectively to preserve the many natural assets within the town’s 36 square miles. The Platt Nature Center, with its trails, herbarium and other resources, is a popular spot, along with the well loved Cranberry Bog, a wetland area purchased by individual, organization and city contributions through the trust.

Numerous walking trails are in the area. The Chatfield Hollow State Park and the Cockaponset State Forest are nearby, as is, of course, the many natural attractions of the nearby shoreline of Long Island Sound.
